Master Bates

February 27th Week 5

Masturbation (Naughty but Nice)

Masturbation: The Taboo.

During this weeks session there was a funny but personal talk about masturbation.

Masturbation is probably the most common private activity a person can perform alone. It helps us to discover ourselves sexually without having to worry about getting it wrong, failing to satisfy and it is also something that could be repeated as many time as a person wishes to.

People have been discovering their sexual desires from as far back as 5,000 BC. by both men and women watever their sexual preference.

In the 1800's masturbation was seen as an illness, and that people must have been suffering from an illness to be the reason why they did it. Instruments were made for both male and female to help the prevention of performing the act of self pleasure.

It was seen as a sickness and if people were continuing the acts, it could lead to health problems such as impotence, vertigo, blindness, manalgia, pulmonary consumption. (Tannahill, R. 1980).

Ways to help the prevent masturbaters from performing the acts included cold baths, douches, moderate and cooling diets, drinking milk and sleeping on a hard mattress. (Gay, P)

Masturbation is seen as a thing that only men do, but research shows that women do it just as much as men.

I cant help to think that back in the ages where masturbation was seen as a serious illness, were these people who repeatedly carried out the acts doing it in public. If they were I can understand how it could be seen as a type of sickness.

Masturbation is not unreasonable, imprudent, immoral but can be dangerous if peoples imagination was to run a little bit wild. It can become very unhealthy if the were to slip

In modern day society there is no evidence to prove that masturbation is unhealthy. More people do it more than they are willing to admit. As it will always be a taboo subject it is not necessary to know who does or does not do it.

Awareness have come a very long way.

Adultery

Week 5 23rd February

Infidelity:

Tales of adultery.

Following the handouts from the lecture lesson, I have started to develop an open mind regarding adultery.

My first views about adultery were that who every committed adultery just wanted to have their cake and eat it.

After reading the handout about the people who were caught up in the situation, I found that it is not so straight forward.

There are many reasons as to why people have affairs. Neglect, feeling insecure, falling out of love, inappropriate partners, having nothing in common, growing apart, marrying for the wrong reasons reflects on reasons for people committing adultery.

Sometimes there are three people in the situation, and other times there are four where are two sets of couples involved. The other woman is sometimes looked upon as a man eater and a home wrecker, but at times the other woman have been a woman deceived.

Some affairs lasts for years where the husband still loves and cares for their wives but have grown apart. Most of them stay in the marriage for the sake of the children and go on living their lives as normal. Lies, deceit, and discretion are on the top of the agenda for the adulterer.

Immoral and unreasonable or imprudent are the categories of Being Bad when it comes to adultery.

Lust

Lust is often confused with love, although ironically it can be seen as the total opposite to love. When love is patience, lust is impatient. Love can be seen as an individual feeling, lust takes whatever is on offer. Love grows with knowledge and time, lust rushes and is impatient.

Week 4 Adultery

Friday 29th February

Adultery:

My views on adultery is that people only do these things because they want to.

Bord em, curiosity, egotistical and maybe vulnerability can be behind the reason why people commit adultery. It can also be can be risky, complicated, unfair, unjust and immoral.

Adultery can be complex as people see committing adultery in different ways. Some may feel that kissing someone else whilst in a relationship is adultery, or some see it as flirting or having sex with another is adultery.

Adultery is the seventh commandment in the Holy Bible Exodus 20 :14. According to the bible it is a sin and adultery have been committed just be looking at a woman and lusting after her. Therefore, every married man or anyone has committed adultery.

The penalty for committing adultery would be death by stoning.

It is a very policy which have been altered as there would n0t be very many people left on this earth if the law wasn't changed for that particular offence.

It can be debatable that men who cheat are not always deceitful, most men and woman who have affairs are good people who made a mistake and didn't think that they would fall into that situation. Maybe it is just an excuse for when they get caught, as that seems to be the only time they are full of regret.'

Stalking

Sunday February 15th 2009

Being as yesterday was Valentines Day, I decided to enter some information about stalking.

Stalking can be transcribed as obsessive following, observing or contact to another person, or having an obsession or taking drastic action to engage with another person.

According to the statistics, 1 in 8 people in Briton have been stalked at some time in their lives. 45% of those victims have had to move house, leave their jobs and have changes their lifestyles due to the situation.

40% of them have been victims for over 5 years, and 1 in 6 of the victims are women.

Victims range from simple obsessions such as a jilted lover is someone who may have been sacked from work. Erotomanic, where the obsession tends to be more persistent and physiological. Also sexual, where there may involve obscene phone calls and photographs.

Week three on Being Bad

Today is 13th February

Last nights topics discussions on stalking, prostitution and shop lifting.

I have decided to blog a report on prostitution.

Most women who sell their body for sex are highly dependent on drugs or alcohol. Women or men for that matter who age caught selling the body on the streets may go to court where can be issued with a fine, an ASBO or even a prison sentence.

However, soliciting on the streets is a direct form of selling the body for sexual favours. If taking money for sex is known as prostitution then it can be debatable if going out on a date with someone and spending money on them is also prostitution if the person spending the money is expecting something in return.

prostitution can be described as engaging in sexual activity with other individuals other than a a spouse or friend, in exchange for immediate payment in money or other valuables.

Other types of selling can include, street prostitution, brothels, escort services, strip clubs, lap dancing and pornography.

Week 3 Being Bad

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime-victims/reducing-crime/prostitution/Last nights session was about stalking, prostitution and shop lifting.

I decided to talk about Prostitution.

It is illegal to sell you body for sex in return for money. Women or men for that matter who get caught soliciting may have to go to court where they may often receive a fine, an ASBO or even a incarceration.

However, soliciting on the street is direct a direct and an obvious definition of prostitution.
If taking money for sex is known as prostitution, then it can be debatable if taking someone out on a date and spending money on them is also prostitution if the person who is doing the spending is expecting something in return.

Prostitution can be identified as the practice of engaging in a sexual activity with someone other than a spouse or friend in exchange for money or other types of valuables

Other types of selling can include, brothels, escort services, strip clubs, lap dancing and pornography.

Entry One

This is the very first entry of my weekly blogger for my Being Bad module.

At week three I am starting to learn about different context of what being bad entails. It is very interesting to hear about the things that people have done or are getting up to, also to realise that people are not that different from each other. There is not really anything I have heard that is shocking. Somethings I have been particularly surprised with, but not anything I felt was inhumanely possible.

So far the module has been very interesting as it has helped me to become more of a critical thinker to almost everything thing I come across. I hope it will inspire and help me with my other assignments as I feel that they link into each other and will only help me to do better.
